A 15-pound bass was caught in Echo Lake once, but that was almost 30 years ago:

According to the map, Echo lake is in a pretty rough part of town.

I believe I remember reading somewhere that this was the state record back in the early 80,s.

This is kinda why I posted this topic.I wanted to see if continually fishing these lakes is worth risking your life for not.I have only been to each lake twice, and have had a couple of incidents two different times, one at each lake.

Aint no fish worth getting your head stoved in.

Sad really, Lake Como looks like it could hold some nice fish. It sure had an amazing history.

http://www.fortworthgov.org/dem/info/default.aspx?id=8574

Quote:
The Texas Department of Health, now the Department of State Health Services, issued a fish consumption ban for Lake Como on April 4, 1995. The ban prohibits possession of fish from the lake but does not prohibit catch-and-release fishing. The fish tissue contaminants associated with this lake are Chlordane, DDT, Dieldrin, and PCBs.

From another site, lol!:

"Went fishing at Echo lake and met a nice lady who smelled like fish so I thought she would be helpful at fishing. I asked her if she worked here and she said she does frequently. When I asked her if she caught much here she said "Only with no protection." I thought she probably new the lake good if she could catch something out in the open unprotected water. I hired her to be my guide. She really must have liked my fishing a LOT because she became REAL friendly but she wasn't too good at catching fish. Overall, it was a slow day all I caught was AIDS."

"The fishing is great. Fish can not be eaten due to high levels of PCB.The fresh scent of burning marijuana fills the air as it wafts among the few surviving trees as urban adolescents softly play gangsta rap at 100 decibels. Camping in abandoned houses or under the interstate bridge is highly recommended to meet interesting locals. Local merchants sell their "homemade pharmaceuticals" in small plastic bags for $20-25 US. Local merchants do NOT accept Euros or credit cards"

Hey Spiny, that info you posted about Como is ,man that is something.I heard stories about about all this kind of hoop-la going on and a city employee told me something about the trolley derailing and going in the water for good.Awesome info man, that lake must have really silted in to be now only 10 acres. No upclass people there now though.

I fished Como once and the homeless guy having a political conversation with the invisible crowd in front of him was humorous, but the crowd of guys dressed in black drinkin 40's and playing dice was a bit disconcerting so i moved to the other side of the pond, where i felt the stron desire to hold my 9mm.

I bet this was the same crowd that asked my friend for a couple of dollars and then after he politely gave it to them they informed him that he needed to have his truck moved to the other side of the park by a certain hour cus thats when the other homies would be comin down.Regardless,Im like you though Ill be packin when I go down there from now on.The time I went I took my 10 ft Pondmaster with a Humminbird565 and there is all kinds of weird stuff on the bottom.
