How difficult is it to change the serpentine belt on a 2004 Ford V8 crew cab F-150?

I looked at it once and backed away.

It is definitely not as simple as my '92 GMC Sierra truck.

Anybody done this job?

The reason I hesitate is because of the seeming difficulty in getting a breaker bar on the tensioner.

Thanks, Chuckwagon

Take the fan shroud off for easier access.

Thanks, I will give it a try this weekend.

The vehicle belongs to my son and its running the same belt since he bought the truck new off the lot.

I would like to do the job myself because ford dealership charges 130 dollars for the belt and labor.

Taking the fan shroud off may have somethime else just flopping around in the way. The first time I did mine wasn't a problem as long as you have a 3 foot breakover bar. This last time I was at the Qwik Kar around the corner from the house getting the tranny fluid flushed and the tech saw a new belt sitting on the seat and offered to change it for me so I said why not. When it came time to pay up the owner didn't charge me and I told him he forgot to and his comment with all the work they do between my company vehicle, daughters car etc. He said it was well worth giving a little.
