Are there any special regulations regarding towing? I am moving from Alaska and would like to haul my ATVs and my car. The trailer is a 37ft bumper pull open car hauler with triple axles.

The 2nd is a 20ft enclosed trailer that I would only be able to take my car in. I would have to pay about 2,500 to ship the ATVs.

Would I be able to sell the double car hauler easier down there than the 20ft enclosed? I know the enclosed are easy to find and the double car hauler are a little harder to find.

I have a Dodge 3500 dually with trailer brakes, 6spd and exhaust brakes, so I'm not real worried about the weight. The truck is fully set up for towing/hauling.

I think I would do the 37ft open and part of the 2500, you save, can be applied to the trailer as a discount.

That's where I'm leaning too. I can still keep my luggage dry by storing it in the car that I'm towing.

Moving is not a lot of fun, and I'll be glad when it's all over. I have 7,500 miles ahead of me starting 30 Oct.

I may be wrong, but I believe you can't pull 2 bumper pulls at one time. You can pull a gooseneck or a 5th wheel with a b/p behind it, as long as you are not over lenght...

you need to check each state and canada for differnt regulations

If you are coming through California they have some real strict rules on trailering. Just like everything else out there. One of those is that you have to have some sort of closures on your safety chains. Open hooks will not do. Since Ca. needs money I am sure they are really enforcing their traffic laws.

I will only be towing one. I was wondering which one would be easier to sell once I arrive in Tx.

And is 37ft too long to tow without a commercial liscense?

I wouldn't even think about trying to tow tandem.

In Texas you can tow 2 trailers and they can both be bumper pulls. You cannot exceed 65 feet in total combination length. That includes tow vehicle and trailer(s).

Each state has different regulations. Some states do not allow tandem trailers.

You need to go to the DOT website for each state along your route and look up their specific regs pertaining to this.

The 37ft bumper pull open car hauler with triple axles will be easy to sell here. Someone will need it to haul farm equip/ construction stuff etc. The enclose car hauler is specialized and well its Texas how often do you need an enclosed trailer

37' bumper pull might be a bit hard to sell.
That is a lot of trailer for most folks to hook up to at the bumper.
If I was to buy a trailer that large to haul farm equipment it would be a goose neck hook up.
That is just my opinion. Good luck on the move.

This might be a reach in capacity and how comfortable you feel concerning this much weight, but can you do this? Load the enclosed trailer on the open 37ft. trailer then load your car in the enclosed trailer. Load the ATV's on the back of the 37ft. behind the enclosed trailer.

That would solve your problem but it might be a nightmare to pull down here.

Fella's he is not bringing BOTH TRAILERS it is either the open, or the enclosed but not both. He is wondering before he buys one which one will be easier to recoup his money once in TEXAS.

Sir the state law on lentgh in Texas is 53ft total so your ok. You might have to stop at all open scale houses though. Probabaly coming thru that many states. You would if the total weight exceeds 26,000 lb need a CDL. I pull a 22,000 lb bull dozer behind a f450 no problems. You said you have trailer brakes and that is very good. If you do have to stop at Scale Houses make sure everything is right on trailer for sure. All your saftey stuff break away cable etc. is there. Good luck and welcome to the great state of
Oh Racers might be interseted in the enclosed. But with the economy going to be hard to sell anything unless you give it away practically. I know got some stuff for sale even on here.

Drive safe and have a good trip Snug.With either trailer you will be fine w/o a CDL.The DPS are cracking down around here on trailer inspections right now and any trailer rated for more than #4000 needs to be inspected.With the triple axle I am assuming 3 #7000 or #7500 axles and #2000 for your truck you are still under the CDL weight limit plus its a not for commerce load anyway.

You guys are trying to convert him to a red neck and he is not even here yet.
