hey everyone,

so we got to head out to Lake Casitas on Saturday am which is just northeast of Ventura near the coast... really pretty lake and surrounding hills...

anyways, after we get setup, I start by warming up my arms with some slingshot exercise..

meanwhile, AC tries using a bass lure for fun near some weeds...

Then we wait for a run.. here's my new, or rather used, Cyber 2 bivvy that I recently got from BCT, and its pretty nice... I really like it... ez to setup and just what we needed...

Alas, the first run... and AC helped me net this one... we didn't have the net setup, and so this is the best AC could do to set it up... at least we got that carp in there...

This one just weighed under 12 lbs.. (oops! sorry about having my finger in the gill there.. will try not to do that next time)

Then, a couple minutes later, another rod goes off, and AC hauls this one in... and of course, it has to be just OVER 12 lbs =)

I try here to wash some of the dirt off...

All in all, a good morning to fish and catch a couple...

hope you all are doing well back in Texas!

I just stuck with good old reliable powerbait, with a small treble, they have one called rainbow powerbait that has like 3 different flavors combined, did very well with it.

All those carp have ruined the bass fishing in Lake Casitas, from what I hear...

Castaic is great if you can shiftily pre-bait the dam wall, about 20 feet out, then fish it the next day. lots of decent mirrors come out of there.

Cachuma has potential but never seen anything decent come out of there other than bass, but there are definitely carp in there. Try fishing the Jack-Rabbit flats.

Casitas is a bit hit and miss also. Well done for catching those fish!

Damn those carp for ruining bass-fishing the world over, destroying families, ruining the ecology, putting holes in our ozone, and causing strife in the middle-east. What on earth can be done about 'em eh?

Nice fish and beautiful venue. I see places like that and it seems like a whole other world of fishing.

Congrats to you and the wife both!
