3 years... 3 Months... and 30 long Days have past by since I started Carping and I finally, Finally landed my first Common Carp. Oh what a day it has been!! Read on, as I'll tell the story just as it unfolded.
We got to the swim (It's location will remain a secret) about 3:10pm and my Fishing buddy arrived shortly after I did. I unloaded my bait bucket from the back of the truck and started baiting up both my Swim, and my Friends swim to Draw in the Ghosts that have eluded me for over 3 years now.
We got all set up, baited out then sat back and waited for the fish to make the next move, and we did not have to wait long till one of my rods started beeping as I got a run. Strike and miss. No worries though. Plenty of time for the "Queen of the River" to grace the net.
As we sat and talked, it happened! My #2 rod went crazy! The butt of the Rod came off the Butt Rest of my Buzz Bars as the fish made a run. A short, but scrappy fight ensued. Right away I could feel the power of the fish. A power that the Buffalo I have caught have failed to provide. I could tell that it was not a big fish by any means, but the fight was still far better than the Buffs I have caught. As I fought the fish, it came in close to the bank, I raised the rod tip so we could net the fish. A Carp, weighing about 4lbs came to the net. At that moment, Time slowed down, and I could feel a weight left from my shoulders as reality sunk in.... I did it, I caught a carp.
As the day went on, I lost one other Carp and caught a nice turtle. My friend also Caught a nice Carp as well.
And now.... the moment you have all be waiting for. The pictures of my First Common Carp.
