Congrats GG, I'm just seeing this post now. High five! I think the biggest factor in finding target fish is fishing a location where there is a sizable population of the species, research and finding new spots is crucial in this hunt. When in search for my first buffalo, (not an easy catch in MN) this was a big factor. The spot that finally delivered has thriving numbers of buffs, a place where they were drawn to and that made the difference. I know how you feel catching your carp, it's a real thrill. Hope you catch many more and silence the critics!
