Hey all. I really enjoy looking at all the photos. Great inspiration.

I just started tying a few of my own and have been using either bucktail or marabou. I see many great looking jigs that use other types of feathers for the tail, but I get confused looking through fly materials. What types of feather make nice tail material? Just looking for some variation from fluffy marabou.

Most of use use neck hackle.There are some synthetics being used,but you'll find and endless color choice of "strung neck hackle" from most any fly tying supplier.

Welcome aboard Brandt I guess the simple question is what are you trying to achieve a better lasting jig? different profile? normally when I find something the fish really like in My area ex.color wise I'll try the same color's in different material's and when the fish are hittin I'll try these different matreial's sometime's You'll find They bite different type's of material different way's sometime's it dosn't matter what You throw if I'm fishing for Big Slab's 2.0 Lb plus I prefer a brim proflie that's wider top to bottom usally bucktail I have started experminting with new product's for ease of tying .

Radtexan - Thanks for the info. Yours were actually some of the jigs I was talking about. I'll look around for some neck hackle to experiment with.

Dink Dodger - Thanks for the welcome. This whole crappie thing is addicting, from the fishing, to the talking about it, and now jig tying. I live on the western edge of Lewisville (Kirkpatrick and 1171), work on the far east (121 & FM544), and have just started fishing LL in the last couple of months. Come to think of it, I don't make it out of the city limits often enough these days.

Crazy Angler - you have a heck of a color assortment of marabou on your site. I might be needing to place an order in the future.
