Almost lost my brand-spanking-new Wally set-up to a rogue bass. Had just reeled it in and laid it in the boat to grab another rod. Had the jig tipped with a minnow hanging over the edge when I heard this horrendous sound, looked up and there goes my rod-and-reel---caught it in flight to the great abiss! Fortunately, the way he hit caused the rod to bend over the side of the boat and the end flipped up into the air.

You have no idea how tempted I was to put him in the cooler, take him home and eat 'em just for spite's sake. Insead I just gave him a good lecturing on how lucky he was and let him go.

Yeah I heard about his story...you can bet I'll be taking more precautions from now on! Didn't matter so much with cheaper equipment but all this talk about St. Croix rods and I'm sure that's next on the Christmas list.
