I went to Whitney this morning and this is an update on Access.

First went to Cedron Creek ramp/park which we fished out of on Tuesday of this week... the ramp was good then and still listed as "OPEN" on the Corp Web page... Unfortunately, the Corp neglected to mention that they close the Cedron Creek Park Oct 1.... So, even though the ramp is OPEN and the Corp web page lists it as OPEN on their web page... the Park gate is locked, NO ACCESS in Cedron Creek.

We went on down to Loafer's Bend where the East ramp is supposed to be open, BUT, there was a storm last night and the Loafer's Bend Park suffered considerable damage to the trees. The Gate Attendent advised that a large tree was down across the road to the ramp and they were not letting anyone in to launch... The guy thought it would take a couple of days for the Corp to clean up the damage and he wasn't sure when the road to the ramp would be open again.

The gate attendant did advise that one Steele Creek ramp is still open as is the Cedar Creek ramp. Both of these are in parks that are not manned by Corp Park personnel, so there is a bit of risk in leaving your vehicle there... not bad, but not the same as in the manned parks. Also, there have been previous reports that the Cedar Creek ramp was a bit problematic, but useable if you are careful.

We just went on to Acquila... so inspite of being at Whitney at dawn, we were not able to get on the water until nearly 8:30 this morning... the early morning bite was a bust.

We caught 2 small black bass and 1 white on hot spots... lost 1 more black that seemed to be pretty good... Just fished the points. No worm bite...

Aquilla is at its normal level.. but, it is muddy.

Launch from Juniper Cove (Lake Whitney Marina) next time you're on Whitney. The ramp is open!

Yep... 10 bucks a trip is too rich for me.... I pay $30 bucks for an all year pass to the Corp parks, ramp and day use area... anywhere in the country.. no mater how many times I launch... I try to fish 3 or 4 times a week... I can't affort $10 a launch... just too much... not practical.... I will just keep driving down to Loafer's Bend.... even if it is another 15 minutes ... I would launch at Cedar Creek right across from Juniper Cove Marina before I would pay the $10 at Juniper Cove....
