I haven't been here in forever. We are probably going to take a trip to Martin Dies park in a few weeks, and I have never been or fished there.

I haven't really fished in quite a long time (sold my boat, long story).

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on good bait to use, natural or artificial. I'll be bringing my 5 year-old and 2 year-old as well, but the 5 year-old will probably be the only one wetting a line with me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Live minnows are available nearby. That and small spinners. The water is usually very dark or muddy. Crappie, gar, cats and LMB are usually fair.

considering the kiddos...if you can get up the Angelina River with minnows or lures, there's tons of sunfish, crappie, and large and spotted bass.

That stretch of river is one of the prettiest in East Texas as well...
