Well, I've descided to take the plunge. I want to learn how to kayak fish. My dad and I have fished out of a canoe for many years, but now that I'm off at college, I wanted something I could easily haul and control solo. That being said, I dont know a thing about kayaks. What do you guys suggest in the way of a kayak for beginners? I was lookin at the Pelican Castaway, but that didnt get too good of reviews on here. Is there another good kayak for about $400? YaknYota, what do you use? I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

There are plenty of good kayaks out there but I only feel comfortable recommending what I use. That being said...

I looked up the Scrambler, and it's 12 ft long! How do you haul that thing around? Could I put it half in a 6 foot truck bed and make it down the road just fine?

I have a 14ft redfish that I was carrying on top of my chevy S10 until I built a trailer.Built a rack up at the back of the bed and put the yak on top of the cab with some padding and tie downs.Worked just fine other than not being able to go over 60mph or the truck thought it was time to fly.
