The last couple of days, the belt is squealing and it seems as if my battery isn't recharging like it should on my car. I'm thinking it's the alternator...The car has 150,000 miles and it's been about 70,000 miles since the belt was changed...

Anyone know how difficult it is to change the alternator? I believe I'll need to remove the front right side tire to get to it...Anything else I need to know?

The alternator might not be charging simply due to the slipping belt. You need to get that taken care of before you start throwing parts at it.

+1
dont waste money and time on the alternator when the belt is the most likely problem.

Could it be that the idler pulley directly behind the motor mount may be causing the squeaking? worth checking.
