I'm looking to make a trip out of POC this comming Sunday. Hopefully the seas will cooperate. We've been heading out about 45 miles the past 2 trips. So far all we can locate is good sized red snapper that we have to release. We tried hitting the 8 pile jacket out of Rik Jacobsen's Red Snapper Book but all we could manage there is large cudas. Are there any specific spots out of POC that are yielding good grouper and Aj's? My experience level is pretty low at this point so any options for me would be good. We plan to get an early start and possibly free-line some baits by shirimp boats when we're heading out. Haven't seen much grass in the water at all the past 2 trips. Sure would like to get into some Dolphin, but idk if its too late in the year for them. What should my game plan be for Sunday?

For AJ's and Grouper head for 200+ feet of water. For Mahi you need to find the trifecta...blue water, flying fish, & flotsam. Troll some mahi jets, ilanders or wahoo jets fast enough to make 'em skip on the surface.

Here's a link to a gallery of some good spreads:
