I recently just got a sponsor and he sent me loads of plastics and jigs and most of them football heads. And I have never really fished football heads but I do fish regular jigs all the time. Answers are greatly appricieated. P.S. Check out it out at Basskwondo.com, he will also will tie any jig you want.

I read your post about not getting answers to your questions. First you must ask one. I do not see a question anywhere in your post! grin

Football jigs are good for fishing around rocks. Thay are not suppose to get hung up as much.

Congrats on the sponsorship basswacker5, Foot ball jigs are designed for open water areas. They are known for being good around rocks but are also used to drag the bottom of areas with little or no grass or extremely heavy timber. Paired up with braid or floro you can feel the botom extremely well and learn by feel what type of bottom you are fishing. With practice you can get a feel for gravel, clay, hard or soft bottoms and no when you come into contact with cover such as brush, tree roots, chunk rock etc. The design of the head also imparts a rocking motion to the bait as its dragged along making the skirt and trailer shake and wave. It is versatile enough that you can also rip, hop, or stroke it in open water as well as swim it. I like dragging them until I come into contact with cover and just shaking or twiching and hopping it.
I hope this answers your not so obvious question.

Well said, not much to add to that. Humps, Points, Ridges, roadbeds, basically Offshore structure is where they shine. The head design will also allow it to roll forward a little bit as you drag it which kicks up the trailer. They look very much like a crawfish scooting along the bottom kicking up a dirt trail with the pinchers flaring out.
