i was just curious on how big you guys are somewhat predicting these to be? Like how many teams...some of the lakes are pretty small is why I was wondering, I didnt know if you planned on it being a pretty small event or not.

Either way it doesnt matter, I was just curious.

In the past some of our tournaments have had around 10-15 teams and some have been smaller. This was put together to give some of the guys who don't want to chase the metroplex curcuit's or drive 2-3 hours the chance to stay close to home and do what we love to do. The smallest of the lakes is Alvarado and I personaly have been on it this spring fishing with 20 teams in a tournament and we never skipped a beat. It was a little tough but we managed. Come on out.

We do believe that we'll have a good turnout.Alvarado has been called the littlest lake, and that it won't hold a 30 boat tourney. But if you ever come out there to a tourney that has only 10-15 boats in it,you'll see 10 other non tourney bass boats,3-4 ski boats and 3-4 jet ski's.And with all that going on,we've never had an issue.Yes our lake selection is not the biggest lake's,but it's the lake's that us southern metroplex guys fish alot.So we didn't want to clash with the EML,Lewis,Grape tourneys, these are our backyard lake's and we just wanted cater to the southern guys, and give them a place to go around the house.

sounds awesome, I actually have never fished a tournament, but wanted to get into it pretty soon. This sounds like a good start...do you guys have a club also? Or is it just a line of open tournaments?

We are just a group of guys who have become good friends through fishing. We was going to start a club but there are to many floating around as it is. We got the best of both worlds. Good group of guys to fish with, no yearly dues and no monthly meetings. After the Fall/Winter Series is over we will start the Spring/Summer series(stay tuned for more info).

To answer the questions asked: $50 a team for 4 hours(isn't that bad $25 a man if you have a partner, days getting shorter and the warmest part of the day), 80% payback (added money for the finals), middle of Sunday during football season (some fisherman attend church), Waco (1 hour from where I live in cleburne). Hope this clears up your questions and hope to see ya out there if not see ya at the Cleburne Open on Oct 25th.... Oop's just gave ya another plug!

I think $50.00 a team is a great price,if not load and go fish Lewisville or EML's $60.00 a team weekly tourney for 5 hours. It's 2009,most of us are to old to ever get a check from the NFL,or we just record it.lol, and Waco is a hop, skip, and a jump.Lewisville is about the same distance. The 20% taken out is for the prizes and added money for the finals.[we done it like this at our last series, and everyone came away with money,or a nice prize.Just my 2 cents. Great job Dean and the rest of THE DIRTY SOUTH POSSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DIRTY SOUTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DIRTY SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DIRTY SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We checked Media,BassChamps,CABA,and BLT,plus tried to not interfer with anyone elses club or weekly tourney. But we was under the impression that you wasn't even sure you was going to do it.And wasn't sure on a date yet.And i think it was $200.00 per team.So we posted it that night, cause all dates were open.So hopefully if you fish Cleburne on the 18th in the am.Then do your Alvarado in the afternoon,we can run our tourney in conjunction with each other. And that way everyone can fish the Kings of Kountry and the Dirty South Bass Series.Just a thought.

I would be very interested in fishing this series, but I need a partner. Work has leveled out and I am off every Sunday. If you know of someone that would like to share the expence let me know.

Alvarado Lake

Water temp around 72-74 degrees
Water clarity is clear to stained in some spots.
And yes the ramp is O.K.,the lake is back up,and full to the brim.

me and a buddy are going to be fishing at Alvarado and possibly all the others.

We were first interested in Whitney and Waco because he lives on Waco and I live on Whitney, but then just said, heck, we can fish them all.

My boss(wife) reminded me our nephews 5th bday party was at 2pm tomorrow. She's my fishing partner so we won't make this one. See you at the next one. I marked our calender so she could arrange the family [censored], opps I mean gatherings around our tournaments.

Thanks ugotthatcash, I wouldn't say that we actually "figured them out" but were lucky enough to get a few in the boat. We look forward to seeing you guys in the coming months. Also, how do the points work exactly on this series?

The points are like this

50-1st
49-2nd
48-3rd and so on.all the way to 50th place. But you have to come weigh in fish and place. After that it is one half of the last place finishes points are awarded for perticapating. Then you add your total weight to your points.

I'm ready to get out there, looking foward to both tourneys. I haven't been down there yet, but planning on getting there soon. I know it's finally full. My cousin lives on the lake and he told me it looked good other than being muddy right now. Hopefully it will clear up and then it's on! lol!

Iknow with all this rain every other day or two,not to mention the tornado type winds, but hopefully we get some good weather for the month of November. But all and all we'll all do OK at Granbury.

Junior, you working on Saturday? I am heading over to Granbury Saturday morning to see what is happening. We didn't get too much rain today so hopefully it won't be getting any muddier than it already is. One way to look at it, muddy or clear, fish still have to eat in order to survive.

We are gonna have a meeting for the Dirty South Posse Bass Club, after the weigh-in on Sunday the 15th.We will be informing everyone that the winning team of the DSBS winter series and the winning team of the spring series, will automatically be our 2 teams and the current president and treasurer, will be the top 6 for the next years TBF top 6.So since Dean and myself, have got it off the ground,i'm the 2010 president, and Deans the 2010 treasurer. We will have rules and guidlines, and vote on new president and treasurer at the last DSBS spring finals. So all that is interested, please stick around and if you have any questions,we can answer them. There will be no dues for the club, but you do need to join the TBF for $30 per year and $35 for FLW,this gets you into the mix to fish the TBF/FLW state quilifier and a chance at going to the national championship.See ya'll at the ramp.

Hello all Dirty South participants. This is just a thought that I wanted to throw out so feel free to add your $.02. Does everyone want to get together at my house in Cleburne on 12/19, the night before the Cleburne event for some food and drinks? Feel free to bring a spouse. We can do finger foods or a meal, really it depends on what everyone wants. Let me know what you all think and we can go from there.

I welcome everyone to follow me on the 20th. I will be more than happy to escort all competitors to the fishing holes of my choice then take their keys and wish them the best. See you all at the ramp.

Mike, you and Dean wouldn't catch so many drum and flatheads if you weren't fishing with dead shrimp during the tournaments. Technically, it is not against the rules because it is not posted on the flyer.

There will not be a Cleburne morning tourney on the 20th. The guy that puts it on is leading the DSBS,and rule is No Fishing the morning of tourney.

Texcwby, in my opinion, competitive fishing is a very valid reason for skipping out on a family function. Tell your wife you have a partner who is depending on you.

Somewhat close to the approach I am going to take. Just going to spin it a little bit different since I havnt made this side of the family in about 4 years why should I start now!!! Besides that 80% of the people I will see there I will see again before the end of the year! Always seems like something comes up so that I cant make and DSBS event. One day I will make one so that I can fall in line and follow everyone else right bebind you :-)

Junior, that thumb isn't gonna help you out much.We got that new toy in the boat, and we gonna be on the only hole that will have the winning sac on it.lol I think we are gonna fish Robison Branch, you know that 22' drop off in the backside of the creek. That's where it will be won at.

Just to let all ya'll know, Junior and I plan on winning on the 20th. lol. So everyone come donate! Our hole is full of 15' willow trees in 38' of water. Tru-tungsten 12" rainbow trout swimbait will be the lure of choice. violin

Jeff, that may be the lure of YOUR choice, not the fish. I just finished a meeting out there and converted EVERY bass at Cleburne to a swimmers union and will only bite union approved baits, and only my baits are approved! HOWEVER, if you pay $50.00 per boat on the 20th, I will approve all other's baits but there is a 24 hour waiting time once they will eat it, unfortunately, you really have no chance of catching anything on that day so if you want to pay your entry fee and leave that will be fine with me. Good luck to everyone on the 20th. rolfmao

The forecast is looking promising for warmer water for the 20th, I am ready boys. In order to get an edge on the competition, Sonny is going to break Junior's other thumb tomorrow, I am going to steal Dean's 72" screen, side imaging, costs more than my whole boat Humminbird and offer everyone WAY too much to drink on Saturday night.

You can have Sonny break both of my hands if you want, but there is no way in hell that i'm gonna let you and him win three in a row...lol! As far as dean's graph goes, just make sure he doesn't have any extra fuses and we will be O.K.!

Let's get to the drinking part?I nominate Greg as the spokes person for the DSBS.LMAO But marti are you ready to see the DIRTY SOUTH POSSE in action off the lake. You gotta remember, between the Hurt boys and myself, your neighbors will have a petition signed the next day and asking you to move far away.lol Oh yeah! That's right, don't plan on having any specific quitting time,we are all night,two-stepping-honky-tonking,beer drinking, whisky sipping, snuff spitting, good ole' country boys.So please be a good hostes and watch Dean,i think he like's me,and not funny ha ha,you know?Don't know how he handle's his liquior.LMAO

ATTENTION EVERYONE----Dean added me as a friend on Facebook. Finally, after 31 years on this earth, I am just now feeling acceptance in the TRUE meaning of the word. Oh yeah, Dean looks WAAAAAYYYYYYY too limp wristed in his profile pic with his head cocked over onto Angie's head. I wish I had photoshop and I would put Mikes face on there to make it even sweeter.

hey, I didnt think we were going to be able to, but I think we are going to be able to make it Sunday now.

Now, this might be dumb to ask since I am asking folks who will be competing against, but we have neither ever been on this lake.

is there anything you guys dont mind sharing, at least like what kind of cover is there, any submerged grass, docks, etc...

is there a main creek or river channel?

thanks for any help to at least get us started.

Matt

There are no real vast amounts of anything to fish there, just a little of everything. There are 4 or 5 docks, quite a bit of flooded grass from the lake being low all summer, rip rap on the dam, some laying logs on the north end by Hwy 67 bridge, as well as a couple of shallow coves and points. Hope that helps a little and we look forward to seeing you there. The lake is only 1560 acres so there are only so many places they can hide. Unfortunately for me, they have been hiding REALLY good the past two weeks.

Funny Mike Reed, but we got that new skeeter submarine, when we take off we go under water, then just pop up where we wanna fish.So it's really a 50-50 chance where we go,North or South.lol So if it's windy go south,if not go north, and we will pop up and see you.lol

You and Bruce,Marti and Sunny,Junior and Jeff, and anybody else wants to follow us,we would sure love the company. It sure does get lonely and cold out there during the winter. And we only have so many pockets between the two of us to keep our hands and feet warm.So ya'll come on,we need more pockets. And who knows maybe swap a few "TAILS",............lmao

I think we should check Dean's rod lockers to see if he has a sleeping bag and pillow for when they get in the back of the creek. With it being so close to Christmas, they may be "exchanging gifts" on the water this weekend.

bow_down Attention all anglers: To whom it may concern,I love my partner, and he loves me.and what we do in the privacy of our own SKEETER,is our business.I know all the popparazi is gonna be all over the lake to catch a pic of me in my new KVD boxers and Dean's new Skeet Reese thongs(black and yellow)he looks like a little sexy bumblebee, but he's all mine. The distraction of all the media is gonna be enough,so please keep atleast 200 yds away.thanks yours truly PACO.

That's right Mike, a spanking...it just so happens that Sonny and I have the paddle. We will be easy on you and start throwing all of our keepers we catch once we have 18lbs, even if it is only with 3 big fat girls. We will keep it to a spanking instead of a true beating!!!

Dean, I like the new Skrangeeter. With your taste, I knew just having a Skeeter wasn't good enough, you needed that Ranger class in there too. I am not surprised that you only got a one-seater so Paco would be forced to sit in your lap.

I know how the DSBS rules read, but I am willing to forfeit all of my current points if I can change partners. From now on, I am pleased to announce that I will be fishing with the 4 bladed spinnerbait queen.

We may be dead last, but we will look good (at least she will)

What do you all think about the veluptious lips on my lady above?

Look at Mike after riding around in the Skrangeeter in Dean's lap all day back in July. Dean had a good dold on him, how sweet.

Everyone meet Motorcycle Mike, you may see him sporting this helmet with the face shield attached during winter tournaments. He builds his own choppers, he is also referred to as Mad Mike and "sweetheart" by Deana.

well if you'll look at what page your on then you might rethink that question,we've been on here for over 3 months promoting the DSBS,YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT IT,so don't play dumb to it.And yes we are a group of guys who like to have fun and there is no harm intended to anybody,we are all close friends on the lake as well as off.So the bs is just to keep in touch from day to day to pass the time till we all get back to the lake......Just saying...

What question? How can you be promoting D.S.B.S. by chit-chatting back and forth posting photos of stuff that has NOTHING to do with D.S.B.S. And yes, I do know all about it, but the people your trying to "promote to" don't. You really think there gonna want to scroll thru yall's rederick just to find out what D.S.B.S. is? Not playing dumb here, just trying to help out your cause.

It is promoted on the flyer on the 1st page of this post, can't promote it any better than that. And we have a home page also that we promote our series. All the bs'ing is for fun with all the guys that fish with us.And yes we except new anglers everyday.and 99% of the time, they leave with a smile and a few new friends. We are not promoting anything but a series. Our Dirty South Posse,TBF state club is for just us few DSBS anglers,so we are like a family and this is a forum just like facebook and we all have a good time here, and answer anybody's questions that they might have.

Look out tomorrow,it's gonna be a fight down in the trenches. But with the weather like it is,maybe we will get hit alot better than the past two weeks.I called the phycic hotline last night, and it said that i was gonna find true love tomorrow and also catch a few hogs.lol I hate to say it,but when you guys see ol Tonto pull in,be scared.he's got balls of steel and looking for revenge.I just hope that when i pass Marti tomorrow morning and shoot that 75 foot rooster tail in his boat,he doesn't get mad at me.See ya at the ramp.

Good Luck tomorrow. Should be a nice day for fishing. Been on Cleburne twice in the last few days and either I or the boater has landed some nice fish.

Thanks,we need to have a good day for everybody,it's been pretty slow, bites and some skunks lately.I hope the weather and wind go along with the program tomorrow. As long as Marti and Sunny are last, but a skunk would be nice for all of us.lol Just kiddin,we all like it when everybody has fish and your hoping your's is bigger. We like everybody to go away with a smile, and catching a sac of fish puts a smile on anybody.Good luck to everybody tomorrow, and everybody that's going to Marti's tonight, bring your own drinks and eats,i think he's trying to put something in our food and drinks to make sure we're sick the next day for the tourney LMAO.Thanks Marti and his wife for opening their house up for the DSB POSSE to get together for some snacks and drinks, and get to know each other better, great group of guys we have.See ya tonight.

FYI, temp was 46.1 in the morning and shot all the way up to 47 when the sun came out in the afternoon. Fishing shallow and with cranks, 2'- 4'. Good luck. hope this doesn't violate any fishermen agreements, but since it is equal to all thought I would post recent experience.

Oh yeah, caught the biggest on a Banjo Minnow, heck of a bait around Marti's xmas trees with the lights still on.

Yall better be glad my wife is keeping me under wraps 2marrow. after the fun-n-sun seminar with mark today. Cowboys winning you would be in trouble. I would wipe out my new 18" Supercalifrag robo-slider swimbait and catch them like crazy. They love that thing so bad they will jump in theboat with me waiting on me to reel it back in. Yall have a great time. I be unwrapping gifts from family wishing I was fishing.

Mike and I won with 3 fish that weighed 8.38. We also had big fish that weighed 4.56. The only other fished that were weighed was Junior and Jeff with 7.88 and 3.92 big fish. Thanks to all that participated and came out today. It was tuff and SLOW. Waco is on Jan 17th and we will be fishing from 10am-5pm out of Twin Bridges Ramp. We are extending the hours at the request of the guys who fish regularly to maybe allow for a few more bites this time of year.

I too want to protest, I think that Dean and Mike placed a hex on my boat as they were leaving on Saturday night. Although I am quite embarrassed, I must admit that I have caught 1 stinking fish at Cleburne in the past 4 trips. That would be 3 zero's in 3 weeks there for me. I need to GET IN THE GAME!!!

Congratulations to Mike and Dean on the win and becoming some 45 points ahead of Sonny and I for the DSBS points race. I smell a zero at Waco and Whitney for them.

I think anyone who doesn't like reading through all of the "chit - chat" that we do to pump each other up, or whatever, just shouldn't look at this thread anymore..My .02 worth! Yes, I will be pre - fishing so we need to get together and find out a good time to go if others are interested.

To all DSBS participants who plan to fish Waco.
Seeing how the Cowboys won yesterday, would everyone be interested in fishing on Saturday instead of Sunday? We can keep the time the same or we can change that to accommadate everyone as well. I know that a lot of you are not really big football fans, but when it comes to my Cowboys, I really don't want to miss that game next Sunday. Everyone think about it and we can make a decision early this week so everyone can make plans. I'm flexible on the time if we need to change it from 10-5 to something else if need be. I'm open for whatever!

Me and Joey are planning on this one and Whitney, so I guess just post something on here asap if its getting moved to Saturday so I can alert him and make sure Sat is good with him too.

Dont get me wrong, I want to watch the Boys also, so that would be a good move if its compatible with everyone.

After receiving calls and e-mails it seems that everyone needs a breather this weekend so the January DSBS has been postponed TBA. Look foward to seeing everyone at Whitney in Feb...

Id like to fish Lake Brazos (the Brasoz river that runs through Waco, thats dammed) and maybe Aquilla, Aquilla puts out some hawgs in the spring.

We do have Aquilla on the list for 1 of the Spring series lakes.

We think: Aquilla
Whitney
Granbury
Benbrook
Cleburne
Alvarado
*Championship @ lake with biggest sac caught at during series.*

$20 Yearly membership.

INDIVIDUAL SERIES
$25 a man
$5 Bigbass (optional)
$5 Over 6 lbs. (optional)
90% PAYBACK

What do you guys think of that?
We will fish on Sundays.?
Times:6:30am- weigh-in at 2:00pm.?
Probably the 3rd Sunday of each month?

that would be a good idea, change the format for one or two lakes...for big bass...it would be good to approach fishing different in that way to target the big ones all day instead of limit, then kicker fish.

I have a rough draft together and will be posting soon. Just getting rules together for the Series. No drastic changes from the Fall/Winter except for Over 6lbs. pot and Points.

Saturday or Sunday?

I know some prefer Saturday over Sunday. Just want to get the best turn-out. Some local clubs fish Sunday's and a lot of people have Church. Let me know.

Series would begin in April. Would be third weekend of the month.

I am ready to see team "we both fish off of the front deck" (Dean and Mike) ZERO and watch Sonny and I step back into 1st place in points. I hope the turnout is good. Tell everyone you know.

Mike, you may want to go to bed or get off of the crack pipe. Those 20 lb sacks won't start for another month, but once March hits, 20 lbs will not even get you a check.

there was a tournament here last saturday where only 4 fish were weighed...many teams reported not even having a bite.

whitney is tough right now, but we will be having decent weather this weekend.
