while fishing at the bridge pilings today I notices hundreds of mayflies stuck to the pilings near the water and it got me thinking. Im sure alot of those mayflys get blown into the water and those crappie are just down there waiting to pick them off. What I had in mind though is a jig that sinks, but looks like a mayfly. I dont have a clue how to start to tie something like that though. so if anyone can do it, and post a pic, it would be greatly appreciated. the mayflies on the pilings are yellow or brown.

I would get some trout flies that are made to imitate mayflies and tie one on a tag line below a jig so that it floats freely. I would try mayfly nymphs too, since they would be more likely seen under the water.

thanks I will try it, hadnt thought of that. It outta '" sweeten the deal" . me and my buddy were joking yesterday and we wondered if it would work to just quickly tie a real mayfly to a 1/32 oz jig head and fish it.

My nephew used to fish with me a lot and when we fished marinas or under bridges he always collected them and fished 'em, but only caught Bream.
