I know a lot of folks put in right below the dam.
You can also put in at Dick's place down river.
Here's the site for generation schedules:

I wanna go ! and I went three weeks ago..

Bring something you can stand up in - a few weeks ago - the water was clear and the view from above was stunning.
Dont forget your Polaroids

And as always - I recommend an up and back from 2114 / Dicks Canoe rental - the 8 miles top down is too long to fun fish - all you can do is a cast and blast.

Paddling up gives you a chance to peruse the area, and the drift back gets in that 2nd chance we all long for.

Be prepared to walk, wear good foot support. Pack a nice soft rope for towing. In fact - you can walk up 85% of this part of the river.

Bare feet in the silt = teeny tiny leeches !
I say they are in the silt, booties = no leeches

We bring a seine, a tow bucket per person, light tackle and circles .

I just got home from fishing that part of the river....water was pretty dirty.....almost no visibility....but the fishing wasn't too bad....if the rains don't come back the river will clear up pretty quick.

Not sure what the best is but I am sure I will be going up and back down. Thats 3rd or forth time I have heard you can't fish it properly going down in a day.
