Wire is easy - haywire twist, always. You shouldn't need any tools for this, although if you're tying a large number of wire leaders up, there are some tools available that are faster & easier.

As far as a knot for 80# test leader ... I'm assuming you mean mono? What are you tying it to? Terminal tackle, such as a swivel, or are you tying it to the mainline - and in that case, is the mainline mono or braid?

I tie mine with an improved cinch knot. I have never had a failure.

look at an erwin knot. i use crimps on anything 80 and above, because I dont trust my knot tying abilities smile LOL!!

i can tie a MEAN palomar knot... thats about it smile

80# line to terminal tackle ... either an improved clinch knot or a uni-knot ought to work fine.

uni knot or if straight to hook.... snell
