i havent been there in a while but i would imagine that the grass has started to grow back up pretty good. I always had good luck with a watermelon red fluke around the egdes of the grass. Hope others will chime in for you.

it is made by Zoom. You can do a google search for a picture of them. I usually fish them weightless with a 3/0 EWG hook.

Fish are biting great right now and have been for 2 months now. We fished our championship tourney Sunday and won the tourney despite losing the 8 lb fish 20 minutes before weigh in. We thought we lost the tourney due to that fish getting off in the grass but was surprised to win. Then went back out yesterday and had a heavier string off the same area in 2 hrs. Fish are shallow and can be caught on anything that is weedless. We caught several big fish in less then 2 ft of water even in the middle of the day. Good luck!

Grass looks great on the cool side of the lake, the warm side the grass is all brown and does not look very healthy at all... water on warm side was close to 90 and cool side around 85. there was alot of exposed matt when we first got there and then it rained all night and the the matts were all covered by about 2" of water... it was neat! smile

Lake is only 2 ft low now and the fish are biting big time! We had an easy 20 lbs with our best 5 yesterday before the front. Nearly all the grass is below the surface now. They were crawling on the bank and were eating everything that would not get stuck in the grass. It does not get any better then that.

Man are them fish biting! Water is up and we are now just about 14 inches low with more rain in the forecast. Fish were eating everything that moved. We had several doubles and at least 50 bass in the 1 to 4 lb range. It was where you expected a fish on every cast and that nearly happened. Great 2.5 hours of fishing. Throw your favorite bait and hold on!

Stomped on them again today right before the front. Had an easy 20 lbs with 5.5 kicker that looked like she swallowed a basketball. This is the second day in a row with sooo many fish caught in all depths of water and the north end of the lake is producing best results. Again your favorite bait will do the work.

My buddy was out there Sat and Sun by himself and had 18 fish the first day and 25 the second. Nothing over 15" but that is his norm smile Do not know what else to tell you.

bassdud
We are about 14" low now. The water is over most of the grass all over the lake.

Good luck.

Nothing has changed other then more water everywhere and the patterns we discussed are still working perfectly. We caught 22 fish yesterday to 4 lbs. It was bluebird as it gets and they still ate well.

well Johnny we ended up going to choke canyon saturday because of all the rain over the weekend and the amount of water going into coleto was pretty high. Glad to see it has made it to full pool now. Was the lake pretty muddy saturday after all the rain.

Came up 2 feet over night and went over full pool and they keep the gates open most all of the weekend. One of the Katy bass clubs was here and I am guessing the bite was tough once they opened the gates Saturday but dunno for sure. Maybe one of them will chime in and and tell you more about that.

i imagine the the bite was pretty tough. We had about 5 to 7 inches of rain around corpus over the weekend and i think ya'll had somewhere around there. The lakes down there needed it thats for sure.

One my buddies was out there Sunday. Katy club had about 16lbs 2 day total and the lake is pretty much mud since the gates were open so long. I knew it would be tough due to both effects. I was right smile

Mcneil9 You and All customers are told up front when making reservations that there are no towels and to bring your own(due to theft of towels got expensive). Now on the soap it should of been there and all you had to do was ask smile Everyone is told this before they ever get here and we have had no problems with it to date after a year.

hmmm, should depend on what end of the lake you were fishing i would guess... i heard someone say on this forum before that the hotter end of the lake gets more run off than the cooler side... but mabey someone with more knoledge on this will chime in...

Anytime the gates are open for extended periods of time will muddy the lake all over. Happens every time the lake fills in a week or less like it just did. Fishing is still good and the water was 12" to 18" visibility so that is great. In some ares it was easy 3 ft vis. Hope that helps.

where are u finding water that clear? i fished from the coves around the big island all the way up to about a mile past the bridge and the best clarity i found was maybe 10 inches. I wouldreallylike to find some clearer water, i have a lot more confidence in clear water...

Let`s just say you are fishing in the wrong areas of the lake and leave it at that if you are looking for clear water. Every where you fished is the worst water right now for clarity but the fish are still biting. It is 12" clarity easy on the main lake where you were fishing. Just not as bad as you say. The clear water is there 18" to 36" of the beautiful stuff smile Keep looking.

We had a great 3 hrs today with a easy 20+ with best five fish. The largest was well over 8 lbs and fat as a basketball. Water clarity is very good with 18" to 24" where we were today. Fish were in 3 ft or less. The 8 came out of 2 ft and a 4 and another couple 3+ were out of 2ft or less. Shad balls were everywhere popping. Find that place and you will catch fish. Good Luck!

Just hearing about the activity is motivation enuff! We are heading to Coleto in February (got my cabin reserved already). Probably warmer there than here (now and in Feb!)...get my ramp ready and I am good to go! thumb
