Guys, I had to replace the Power steering Gear box in my 2000 f250 and when I removed Alt. to get more room to work I arched the wire on the back of Alt. Didnt think much about it till I put everything back together and now I dont have cruise control? Also the air bag warning light keeps comming on in the dash display--flashes at low RPM but stays on when I am out on the road at higher RPM. Checked all my Fuses --both boxes--interior and the one by the sidewall in the engine compartment and all look OK but I must have fried a fuse some where? Not sure where else to look? Anyone have a idea? Thanks Rick

you have to pull the steering wheel/air bag off. Clock spring is part of the steering column electronics. I've done it on my Mazda pick up. Wasn't to bad.

This web site's forum will help you find the instructions to do the job. http://www.ford-trucks.com/

Be very careful with the air bag if you try this yourself.

un hook battery, remove 2 plugs on back of steering wheel, take out the 2 8mm bolts behind plugs, remove air bag, remove screw from center of steering wheel pull wheel may need puller, or leave screw installed but loose brace foot aginst brake pedal and pull like hell with both hands using a back and forth rocking motion, remove lower dash access panel, remove steering colum trim unhook plugs and remove clock spring right below steeringwheel.

Dang. 100 bucks for the part. cant get the steering wheel to come off though. Used a puller but did not move? Did not want to brake it so I gave up. maybe a little heat on the base?
I have a better puller so Ill give it anoher try. Wish me lucK eeks

Thanks BIGREDTRUCK-- thumbI finaly got Steering wheel to come off with a better puller and I put the new coil spring on and works great now. Not that hard to do. 20 minute job if you have the right tools. Ford called it the air bag spring coil but when he pulled it up on computer it says it operates the cruise control? All is well for Now. Love my truck but its getting old and I may have to start thinking about a new one banana

UMM--Ya--I only have 170,000 now. I found out the guy who helped me change the Gear box --spun the steering wheel shaft when I had him help me line it up to get it bolted back on frame splat Can you say Moron! Cost me a hundred for ten minutes of help whip
Hey BRT you have good advise--how about some on getting the front end fixed. How do I get the front wheels to toe back out. I was looking today and the tires really lean in --I know its a Ford trait but it looks bad enough to start wear on the tread. Any advise--Start with some new shocks?

check and make sure your upper and lower ball joints aren't worn out most of the time theyve normally had it at about 150000 miles so if they are original they are probably done.

Could be the camber and not toe in. As he said jack it up and see how much slop is in it shaking back and forth.
