I have a '92 GMC truck and getting a trailer for my little 12 foot Jon Boat.

Question...is there a kit that gives step by step instructions for installing such?

Also, is it easy enough for a shade-tree mechanic, trailer-park dwelling Cave Man to do it?

Thanks, Chuckwagon

Go to easternmarine.com website, they have wiring schematics for truck and and trailer. Northern Tools,Manny Moe & Jack,an auto parts store, or any trailer supply will have what you need.

The main thing is make sure you have a GOOD ground..90% on all trailer lighting probs are grounds..
4 way flat molded connectors allow basic hookup for three lighting functions; right turn signal / stop light (green), left turn signal / stop light (yellow), taillight / license / side marker (brown) and a ground (white).

you can buy one of these at Walmart..any parts store for the GMC. It goes in the wire at back and makes hooking up a snap for the truck. then just match the wires from trailer and your done..

Dont buy trailer light wiring kit from Harbor Freight. The wire is so cheap, you can barely see the copper stand in the wire... like a little dot ...or smaller. I bought a wire pkg and did my utility trailer.. and right after that light would not work. Was not work even trying to splice... Very cheap

I bought this kit and it worked perfectly right out of the package! I was AMAZED! Usually I have to make a bunch of mistakes and do stuff over but with this unit I just plugged it in and ....VOILA!!
