need help with my a/c on my 04 dodge pick up, it will not do anything, not blowing any air what so ever. pulled fan motor and hooked it to the battery and it worked just fine. checked voltage on plug that goes to fan motor and have good voltage, and i cannot find a bad fuse anywhere??? please help me out here, for i am what you would call mechanically challenged, and that is putting it mildly!

so you checked voltage at the blower motor, applaied voltage to the motor, both tested good. no failed fuses...sounds like you need to check the plug at the blower motor pig tail....sounds like a bad connection

i checked the pigtail also, the connection at this point looks good as well. i forgot to add to original post that the compressor is not kicking on when i push the ac button? kind of seems like my control panel for the a/c is not functioning??

well, the compressor not kickking in could be a number of issues...

you checked voltage at the motor, but did you check the ground? It is possible it is a switched ground circuit.

well that dont make sense if u have a power and ground at the pigtail the motor should run, unless the voltage is not enough to run the blower motor but enough to power a test light, also there is a thermistor resistor in the line for the blower motor also that varies the voltage to the blower motor,so you have different blower speeds,so what you really need is a digital ohm meter to measure the voltage at the pigtail to see what your working with,on alot of the dodge products that resistor also controls the a/c compressor voltage also.Get a dvom and give me the readings across the plug with the blower set on low medium and high fan speeds,

yeah i was checking everything last night with a voltmeter, not a test light, and with fan on lowest setting i was reading approximately 11.79 volts at the plug

I believe there is a ground wire on the right side kick panel that might have worked its way loose. I ran across that on another Dodge that I was working on.

hey guys i appreciate all the responses! i called the local dodge house yesterday afternoon, and the gentleman told me to replace my ignition switch? what the heck?!! he said he has seen this happen on 5 other trucks of my year model. when i got home i messed with the ignition and poof, i have air again!! evidently there is a dead spot, loose spot, or whatever the proper terminology would be in the ignition switch, i can ever so slightly turn the key and make the air go on or off! i guess i"ll be buying an ignition switch! i'm no mechanic, but still the last place i would have thought to check for an a/c issue?! thanks again for all the response!

A bunch of '03 and '04 Dodge pickups are having problems with the vent door motor breaking. The doors close off an and no air moves. Search any of the Dodge truck forums and there is greater detail about the problem and the fix.

My '03 Dodge did it under warranty. I know a number of other folks that it's happened to as well.
