Sam Rayburn is just a little more than 4 feet low at 159.80 ft and the water temperature has been holding around 84 degrees. Water color is clear in most of the pockets, clearing more as you move south.

Sam Rayburn is still dropping slowly as they pull more water each day. The showers this week has helped keep the temperature down. Because of the showers we’ve enjoyed some nice days on the lake and even caught some pretty respectable fish. Most of the fish came out of the grass on Ribbit frogs. After a catching a few fish I started throwing Crankbaits and Stanley Spinner baits, picking up a few fish just off the edge of the grass lines. There’s a lot of grass out there; some of it is out to 10 ft deep; and that gives the bass plenty of places to hide. Most of the fish I found were in small groups. Once I found them you could catch them like I just mentioned. The trick worm was another good bait choice, on light Texas and Carolina Rig dropped off the edge of the grass. The fish are starting to setup in a few places. Hopefully things are going to get better as it has been really tough most of the year. There have been a few fish caught on offshore structure on old monster worms and Football jigs. I’ll be looking for some big fish to setup in a few places this fall and I can hardy wait to catch them.

Crappie; The Crappie fishing has been a lot better this week. We have been picking some up off the brush piles. There is always one person who can out fish the other ones. Sometimes it’s all about feeling that soft bite. Everyone has loved the new pontoon with the shade and the changing room with the port-o-potty. It makes the trip a lot nicer for everyone. We can handle up to 8 anglers.
