Ive got a 94 Chevy V6 Z71
It wont start..started this sat during all the rain. can get it started most of the time using carb cleaner. i checked the fuel filter and i get fuel going through it...anything else i can check before i call a mechanic!?!?

weak fuel pump. borrow a fuel pressure gauge from someone(autozone) and check the pressure(screw on fitting on fuel rail on top of engine). should be around 55-60 psi. if its much less than that- it wont start or run right.
Turn the key on. But, do not try to start. You should hear a humming noise coming from the gas tank. If you do not hear the humming noise. It will be the fuel pump. If you replace it yourself. It's easier to remove the bed than drop the gas tank. I replaced one on my son's truck last year..

When I did that, there was just a single CLICK no humming.
You may want to try what SkeeterRonnie suggested.( did not know you could test the pressure in the gas line.)..Nice tip from SKR...
When my sons pump went out, We had it towed home and the wrecker driver, banged on the bottom of the gas tank and the truck started a few more times. If you try that, be EXTREMLY carefull not to damage the tank.
