This was about 8 years ago. I have a '92 GMC pickup, 350 Sierra loaded.

What should I look for in the way of fixing it? I have NEVER messed with it because I don't miss it that much.

Just wondering.

Replacing the brake light switch on the brake pedal fixed it on my 92 chevrolet.

Most of the time it is the switch itself. The switch is the turn signal lever.

Is there a way to fix it?.....other than taking it to a dealership that thinks I am Bill Gates?

Probably the switch. The switch just pulls straight out from the column. The wire that goes down into the column is another story. The best way to do it is to tie a wire to the old one and pull the wire up the column, then attach the new switch wire to the wire you pulled up through the column and then pull it back down. There is a hole on the end of the wire to put it through. If you don't do it this way, you will probably have to disassemble part of the steering column to get the new wire in.
