Yes sir Mr.Nesbit, we've had one long range trip out of 27 in the last 8 years that has not needed someone to sell their spot.
It comes with the territory......... no wonder folks don't want to organize trips! blush
I think we do a bang up job keeping these long range charters organized and going out within the original parameters. grin

My money is on Liteliner catching the biggest tuna on Ocho Tuna. Predicting #135.

Hey Grizz,

Sorry you can't make it. One of the guys that I fish in Venice with that lives in Flower Mound bought a spot a week or so ago so I can ride with him.

Hey guys new to the site since Willie gave me the heads up on it. Put my check in the post office today should be in Abilene tomorrow maybe San Antonio the day after that and I should be paid up by Wed. or Thur. So what is proper etiquette to partake from the margarita machine. Bring tequila obviously what else? Also any tips on what tackle to bring would be cherished, fairly new to tuna fishing. 32 days!

3 Rigs will get you by..

A Jig rig to catch Blackfin for making bait...

Mine is a Dragonfly 400 gram Jig rod from Islanders tackle in Galveston with an Avet LX 3/6 2 speed reel spooled with 65# JB one Green solid core Spectra.

A 50-60# Casting Rig for Top-waters consisting of either a 7ft Casting Bar Bar Tackle (EBay) 30-60# rod and Avet LX 6/3 / Shimano Trinidad 40 or Daiwa Saltiga 50 or the new AVET Hxj 2/5 MC Magged Casting

Or... A 7ft 30-60 Bar Bar Tackle (EBay) Spinning Rod with a Shimano 14000F Spheros (Carbon Tex drag washers from http://www.SmoothDrag.com) , Quantum Cabo 80, Accurate 30 Twin Spin, Daiwa Saltiga 6500 EXP or Shimano 20000 Stella. You can also Jig with this set up.

A 60-80# Class Combo Bottom Drop and Chunk fishing rig..

Calstar 765H Heavy wind-on Roller Rod from http://www.BarBarTackle.com (Ebay) with a Shimano Tiagra 30 LRSA or Avet 30 Pro filled with JB One 130# Hollow Core spectra.

Baits You will need:

10 Ea 8 or 10oz Hammered Diamond Jigs...
You can get them cheap from Jigs, Rigs and Stuff. these are for bottomg fishing AJ's and Blacfin Tuna when the current is lighter.

5 Ea Color 10-14oz Knife/Butterflly jigs... Williamson Benthos Jigs

in Pink/purple, Chart, and Green for when the current is kickin and the drift is fast.
Yellow Fin like the Pink/Purple, or Chart glow..
Black Fin seem to hit anything that moves
and AJ's seem to like Chrome or Green Mackerel best.

On the Topwaters.. Offshore Tackle International on 360Tuna.com
Has some great Tuna Plugs like the Komodo. Also Islander Tackle in Galveston has the Tuna Hunter from Strike Pro. These two brands are ready to fish right out of the box.. no hardware to change.

Good Colors are Blue back/ Silver (Sardine),
Black Back/ Purple, White/ Redhead and Green Mackerel

You can also get some Magnum "Z" Pops from Bass Pro Shops incase the baitfish are smaller and the fish want a smaller plug.
The Shore Popper is another great BPS Topwater plug.
Make sure to get some Owner Hyper 200# Split Rings and 4X Trebbles.. The OEM Rings and Hooks will not hold a good YFT!

If you want to see some of the most awesome topwater blow ups ever... http://www.FrenzyTackle.com and look at the Ballistic Flyer..
I have had YFT in excess of 150# Bust these baits and have boated a few over 100# many have been taken over 80# on these baits! When YFT are on a Flying Fish bite I don't believe you can beat Frenzy.

The Frenzy "Angry Popper" is another fine Tuna Topwater. Several nice YF Tuna were caught on this bait on TFF Tuna 7 because they were keyed in on smaller baitfish.

Hey Old,

Glad to have you aboard. As far as the Margarita machine. Several people are bringing 1.75 ltr bottles of tequila if you would like to have a few. The machine will have margaritas and non alcoholic lemonades also. I will supply the mixes, cups and straws.

Joe
