Looking for a good place to fish this saturday. Can anyone suggest a good place to fish either off the bank or dock within 2.5 hours of Dallas?

Grapevine - Anywhere in Murrell Park. The furthest point to the southeast is good for sandbass, all the other area is good for cats, bass, and carp.

Lewisville - Westlake park in Lake Dallas. Google it to find directions. Cats from the bank.

Ray Roberts - Isle de Bois SP has a fishing pier. Cats and bass from the pier and surrounding areas.

According to Texas Fish and Game Magazine White Rock Lake is good for Channel cats and since it is pretty well surrounded by parks and trails almost all of the bank is accessable. Would suggest some rain gear because it looks like your gonna get wet.

I always hear good things about Purtiss Creek. Never been myself, though.

Purtis is down by Athens.

Lake Lewisville - if you have a cast net, catch live shad and the blues will bite. Punch bait or worms for channels.

Ray Roberts has no blues that I know of.

Grapevine has both. You used to be able to walk down a path at Trophy Club Park (Marshall Creek) to get to the lake, but they say it has grown over bad. That is the point the is the furthest west when you look at a map. The point between Denton Creek and Marshall creek.

White Rock is fine on the west side. We had an overnight fishing tourney there last month and had no problems. I can't speak for the east side, nor the area below the dam.
