Was tough fishing too

It sure started out pretty. 75 degrees, light wind from the Southeast, 82 degree surface temp.....Just no huge schools of fish....WHY NOT??????? Well, maybe it was the holiday weekend traffic or even the full moon. Who knows, I'm usually on the water 5-6 days a week and I still scratch my head some days too
Anyway, we ran the lake from daybreak till about 10am looking for some schoolers and even checked all the points and humps along the way to no avail. We probably caught less than a dozen fish all morning. It was slowwwww......

A little after 10 I marked a big wad of fish in about 14 feet and again, they just wouldn't take a slab. Big ones, little ones, tail spins, or swim baits....they just wouldn't bite. BUT, if you put a Pet Spoon about 4 feet behind a 12' diving crankbait we would troll and double up about every pass. Really big sand bass too.We hit another couple points and had the same results. Ended the day with about 40 magnum sized sand bass and 2 legal hybrid.
I'll be glad when the water drops another 6 or 8 degrees. Can't wait till the topwater and swim bait bite is in full force. Everybody pray for an early Fall. "Dear Lord, little 8lb 6oz Baby Jesus......"
