Was tough fishing too hammer It sure started out pretty. 75 degrees, light wind from the Southeast, 82 degree surface temp.....Just no huge schools of fish....WHY NOT??????? Well, maybe it was the holiday weekend traffic or even the full moon. Who knows, I'm usually on the water 5-6 days a week and I still scratch my head some days too hmmm

Anyway, we ran the lake from daybreak till about 10am looking for some schoolers and even checked all the points and humps along the way to no avail. We probably caught less than a dozen fish all morning. It was slowwwww...... frown

A little after 10 I marked a big wad of fish in about 14 feet and again, they just wouldn't take a slab. Big ones, little ones, tail spins, or swim baits....they just wouldn't bite. BUT, if you put a Pet Spoon about 4 feet behind a 12' diving crankbait we would troll and double up about every pass. Really big sand bass too.We hit another couple points and had the same results. Ended the day with about 40 magnum sized sand bass and 2 legal hybrid.

I'll be glad when the water drops another 6 or 8 degrees. Can't wait till the topwater and swim bait bite is in full force. Everybody pray for an early Fall. "Dear Lord, little 8lb 6oz Baby Jesus......" grin

It is frustrating when you mark fish and can not get them to bite. It will not be long with the weather change for the fishing to get better. It still sounds like you had a mess of fish to clean.

Matt, I was out yesterday and didn't run across you, we probably made the circle on opposite directions laugh I took some time off of work to get some things done around the house and get in a little fishing. Hit the lake around 7:30 yesterday and picked off some sandies here and there. Saw some sporadic blow ups on the west side close to the heel of the jettie. Graphed good arches in bunches of three and four up high, so threw out the 5 1/2" topwater bug and started catching hibbies and some big sandathebass's rock

Had to leave them biting to get back home so I could take my daughter to see the new movie "9". Ended with 10 hibbies (only 4 were legal) and as many sandathebass's. Gonna hit the water again in a few minutes and see how this front changes things, again.

Matt saw you and your group at the bridge. We had to sort through a lot of little ones to get a keeper but ended the day with a nice cooler full of sandies, one LMB and 3 cats. Moe's SSS slab worked for us either verticle or horizontal jiggin off the bottom.
