I crappie fish two to three days a week from May thru Oct.at Lake Pat Cleburne. My experience has been the bite is better during the dark of the moon than in the light of the moon. I always fish mornings. I'm fishing brush piles that are 8ft to 16
ft deep. Only use jigs tipped with nibbles.

Just wondering if you guys who crappie fish regularly have noticed the same pattern?

A new moon (no moon) keeps the fish from seeing their prey. My observation is to fish mornings during a new moon as they didnt have a great oppurtunity to feed all night and to fish evenings when there is a full moon. Just my hypothysis of course, hahaha.

I have wondered if evening fishing was better during a full moon. But evening fishing just does not fit my schedule. Thanks for your reply. Any other input is appreciated.

I certainly agree that the fishing for about 3 days after a full moon can certainly be slower than normal.

well, least not this past weekend. Here's a few pics of what wife and I got this weekend at Grenada lake.

Kept 61 this weekend with all being over a pound. Think the biggest was 2.13 and had 3 over 2 pounds

Pretty much what I think too. If fishing at night; lights in the water with a new moon can be awesome fishing. Fishing tends to spread out more when the moon is full. Fish can feed all day and night. I find mornings after a full moon to be slow while mornings after a new moon are usually crazy. The water is popping all over the place from the top-water bite. I've also noticed the top-water bite is much better at night with enough moon to see by, than a new moon.

Well you just never know. Me and a buddy went this morning not expecting much because of the full moon just a few days ago. We caught 43 keepers and left them biting. They were starting to die in the live well and we had all we wanted to clean.

This is not the norm for me on a bright moon. Blue and white jig skirt on a 1/8 jig was the ticket this morning.
