I caught my first Brazos River Smallmouth today! He was small a stocker for sure, but they grow. Caught him on top water. Caught several Largemouth in the 1 to 2# range. Saw a pck of Hogs drinking from the river too!

Congrats Rack! I caught a couple various things out there, no smallmouth though.

did hook general sherman though. SOMETHING grabbed my lure and took off. Whatever it was saw the canoe and stripped all the line off my reel in about three blinks. Hubby said that was the most impressive thing he'd ever seen. Me... well, I'm rather impressed and amused. At least I managed to hook it!

No, last time out my waterproof bag decided to leak and I lost my Canon DSLR. It would have to a good one to photo, I have caught 4#'rs in Texas, just not this far North.

You are correct.

If you would have had a camera, I'll bet my bottom dollar this was it's twin...

The river is full of them.

It's absolutely imperitive that each and every one be handled at a minimum and released healthy.

Thanks for the report! thumb

Sorry to break it to you, Bum...

The first two are Spotties and the third is a LMB.

Still, nice catches on the fly. thumb

There is no doubt, Bum.

Send the photos to TP&W Fisheries expert Joedy Gray at anglers@tpwd.state.tx.us if your not convinced on my ID.

If I'm wrong on any of the three, I'll give you a free guide trip. wink.

No doubt the first two are Spots, the last one looks like a Largemouth. Next time feel the tongue, you will feel a rough patch on the Spots. There is no doubt the one you caught in Arkansas is a Smallie though.

I'm confused...the first two look like Guadalupe Bass to me? I thought when they had the lines on their bellies that made them Guadalupe Bass?

You know I'd love to take you up on it, Bum.

However, I still can't seem to get the $ tree in my back yard to bloom. bang

So, in the meantime I'll still be takin' my fee. wink
