Sunday was excellent for Snapper and Kings, to bad we couldn't keep any of the Red Snapper. Some went over 15-lbs, we caught at least 30 fish over 10-lbs. They were going for the King Fish rigs like crazy(ribbon fish for bait) 60-70 foot visibility with flat seas. Limits of kings on artificials and dead bait drifting, lots of surface activity.

Headed out to Port A tomorrow and planning on fishing the flats around dagger island.

I have a 18' Kenner so if the seas really flatten out I was thinking about pulling around the jetties and trying to pick up some kings but was planning on staying (not too far) from the beach. Depends on seas and I dont have a radio....

Have you guys been picking them up within a mile or two of the beach ? and have you just been watching for bird activity or?

I saw some guys picking up kings trolling around a rig about 8 miles out, but the water has been crazy flat man...pull around those jetties and feel it out, should be super calm again this weekend according to NOAA's forecast. Seas 1 ft. or less.

Jaga,

You still have a chance for kingfish fishing in the afternoon under the tankers that anchor about 4 miles offshore of the jetties. The kings love the shade of the tankers. Use ribbon fish. Keep one line deep, one mid level and one on top. It's only about 45' deep out there.

The end of the jetties to the first bouy have been producing tarpon in the late evening the last couple of weeks. A friend on mine has caught and released four tarpon in this time period. There are also schools of Jack's up to 25#s under the birds at the end of the jetties.

I wouldn't go much farther than the tankers with the 18' Kenner. Weather can change quickly and the end of the jetties and a strong tidal movement can be dangerous in a small boat between those jetties.

Some seaweed has started moving inshore. (Finally) Dolphin are showing up in good numbers. Finding the rips will be impossible for a boat your size as they are a little out of your reach. If I was you, I'd fish the end of the jetties to the tankers. Lots of fish in that area right now. Use wire leaders as S-Macks are present with the kings. Bonnet head sharks are also feeding on the S-Macks. Good Luck. I'll keep an eye out for a 18' Kenner on my way back in this weekend. If I see one, I'll holler at you and see how your doing.

Mr. Bill, where are those rips at? I'd like to find the grasslines and try for some dorados. I'll be out tomorrow in the 22' VIP Sea Stealth with my brother, heading out of the Port Isabel Jetties.
