Well today was pretty fun. It started out I was at my ranch working on feeders and stuff geting ready for deer season, when I got a wild hair to go fishing. So I grabed my camera"just a picture camera" and pushed my 14ft jon out in the lake with just a trolling motor paddle rods and some bait. I had and idea of what I was in for but didnt think it would come out like this. Well I trolled over to one of my favorite gar holes threw my line out and was riging another line when i got a run. I droped what I was doing and set the hook!! Boy did I go for a ride! After I skied behind this fish for awhile she finaly gave in and floated up by the boat, I thought boy this is a good time to take a picture, so I grabed my camera and started snaping pictures while holding the rod with one hand, Then I rembered this camera will do video to! so I set it to video and cought the last bit of fight to share with yall.

I'm not really into gar fishing but years ago, I read a funny receipe for preparing gar for the table.

You take gar steaks and soak them in Jack Daniels overnight in the fridge. In the morning, you throw the gar steaks away and drink the Jack Daniels.

This receipe also works for carp, although it seems a waste of good tasting whisky.

It is about four miles long and 500yds wide at the largest point. it runs down one side of our property and the river is on the other..

With a fish that size I think hanging on is all anyone could do.

YES! she never come out the water. When I fish for pleasure i dont take them out. Only when i have cliants i will take them out the water for pictures and measurements only.
