Check the Bank Fishing Systems (BFS) website. They have some very affordable rods that are specificaly designed for carp and buffs. I just got in 3 of the 12 foot extreme distance carp rods. They look great, can't wait to get on the water with them.

I made the mistake of getting fiberglass rods like the one you linked. They are durable, but heavy. BFS rods are carbon blank and much less heavy.

Curt , I've used a lot of fiberglass rods and the weight has never bothered me.

And I'm looking for something with stainless steel eyes to use with braid.

Youth is a wonderful thing. clap

Whether braid will hurt ceramic eyes is a matter of much discussion. I have used braid for years and have never had a problem with damage to ceramic eyes.

why even use braid? 90% of us use 12# mono on our carp reels.

If you want a cheap shorter carp style rod get a 9' ugly stick lite, but I can almost bet you will be upgrading to proper carp rods within a year. Save yourself the trouble and expense and just get carp rod(s) now......... Black Phantoms are $25 , hard to beat that price

king kat rod cabelas, 20 bucks, great deal great rod, cant go wrong, or black phantom rods 12ft 2.25tc rod, just because it is for carp doesent mean you cant use it for kittys, we all catch kittys while carp fishing, you cant avoid it. most of us use mono cause it gives a little, braid works too, i use it on my king cat for chumming, hasent cut a eye yet and im casting more than 6 ounces.

Get the 10' king kats. Even if you upgrade you will still be able to use it for a spod rod.

i use the rod for throwing method balls out or throwing a spod out, and for a marker rod, i used the braid on it only. when your useing it for a marker rod the braid help in feeling the bottom out for weeds, rocks, drop offsm ect,....
