I'm wondering if anyone else saw the report on FoxNews Cable channel this morning about how low Lake Travis is. Also the general low lake levels in Texas. They say the lake is only 40% normal capacity. They said there are no ramps on the lake usable. They were at a use-to-be marina, all the boats pretty much on the ground. Austin gets all its drinking water from that lake. They have a big problem.
I'm concerned about the future of the lakes in north Texas.
Whitney, Benbrook and others could face an uncertain future for us fisherguys!

Example, as of 09/01/09:

Lake Georgetown is 37.22% FULL
(23.54 feet low)
NOTE: As of Sept 1st, 2009, Russell Park swim beach and the Jim Hogg boat ramp are closed due to low water conditions. All other facilities are open at present. Visitors should exercise caution when entering or in the water due to the low lake levels. Boaters should be on the lookout for visitors in the water and maintain a safe distance

Lake Travis is 39.04% FULL
(49.24 Feet low)
ALL PUBLIC RAMPS ARE CLOSED!

Lake Buchanan is 43.99% FULL
(26.98 Feet Low)
ALL PUBLIC RAMPS ARE CLOSED!

Good time to take pics of all the structures in the central Texas lakes.

I took some of Travis back in the early 80s and have some of today's low levels and I cannot believe some of the structure changes especially on cliff ledges that have broken off and fallen.
Long Canyon as one example.

I'll have to fire up the scanner to get the 80s pics digitized.

Same for GT. It was low in the early 90's and took pics.
