Well after putting on a new prop this week I had to go try it out a bit. I wanted to get dad out, as he hadn't been since June, so I promised to help him in the yard if he would go out for a bit. He's a jig guy, so the timber bite is right up his alley and for the first time in my life, there were no minnows present on a fishing trip:)...I'm slowing converting. The weather was absolutely beautiful temperature wise. I didn't feel a drop of sweat till we left at noon with the temp still at 88. The north wind was a little blustery, but everything can't always be perfect.
We explored some new timber just in case I need some backup spots in the near future and the fish were hungry..crappie and white bass alike. From 8:30-noon we caught 45 fish, with 21 keeper crappie and 6 nice whites (all released to be caught again). The crappie were much nicer today than in recent weeks, as we probably had an 11.5" average and only 5 keepers under 11. We would have stayed longer, but a yard full of tree limbs at his house had to be cleared!
