After the storm passed us by this morning I decided to head to Lake Bonham and see if I could find the crappie bunching up. I paddled all the usual areas where there are normally brushpiles and did not have any luck. I then decided to try the water intake as it always produces a few good fish. I left the flyrods in the truck and took my jiggin pole with me on this trip. I was jiggin around the poles that support the fence around the intake area with a 1/16 jig head and a 1 1/2 inch black and chartreuse soft plastic shad body. The first pass produced no fish. The second pass I started getting a few bumps and then I got a solid hook up on a nice crappie. I fished around the edge of the fence for about an hour and caught 6 or 7 crappie in the 11 to 15 inch range.
Here are four of the nicer ones:

I thought at one point I might be hung on the fence. I kept tugging and this is the result.

I think that early morning might have produced more crappie but the lightning show I saw made me decide to wait.
