Saturday I made a trip to lake Somerville to investigate the creeks and see if any whitebass might have crossed the shallow flats at the upper end when it flooded last week. The lake has come up almost 4 feet since mid January but still remains at just over six feet below normal pool level. Read the report and see the video.

Is the last picture above the video of the lake before any of the recent rain?

This is a view from Google of the mouth of Jardelle creek near where the creek crosses FM 1948 and was taken earlier last fall or summer at the time the lake was nearing the record low level. I'll post another video shortly specifically about Jardelle creek and my history with it..

Over the last ten days (Feb 5-15) the lake has risen one foot to 231.75 or 6.25 feet below pool level of 238. I don't know for sure how much rain that area got Wednesday morning but every little bit helps..

I got a bit excited today as I came to Overlook Park towards the dam and noticed some boats out in the water near the Island. Turns out it was the Washington County EMS doing some training with canoes.

This past Tuesday I had a friend, fishing with another buddy, catching WB from the bank at Big Creek. In 3hrs they had 26 WB and 2 keeper Hybrids. Fishing with Ghost minnows.

There is still tons of silt out there. Also, saw one empty boat trailer that unloaded from Overlook in the parking lot.

On Thursday at noon I took a photo of four white bass that were caught at Irwin Bridge, that photo is on the Birch Creek Facebook page. One of the four was a female that had some eggs, but a long way from the spawn. (Forgot how to post them on here)

These are lake bass that have made their way to Irwin, with more rain forecast the lake should rise more in the coming days. This run should really get going over the coming weeks if not going now. The gate at Newman's Bottom is closed at this time with the rain falling now are more expected, they evaluate that road daily.

I think those holes around Newman's might be full of white bass if they are as high up as Irwin's. We need fishytx, hls, Raider, Jasin, to give it a try. These guys know that creek better than anyone I know, if the bass are in the creek in numbers these guys will show us the way.

The water is cold and muddy now but I think we could have a really nice run starting in the next few days, good luck.
