Have you ever noticed when fishing from a boat that the back of the boat is always more productive?

I've seen it happen countless times while fishing on party boats in the gulf. It happened again on Texoma last weekend. My brother James was slaying the stripers off the back of the boat while we were drift fishing. He said the reason was he was a "Great fisherman" with something he refered to as Mojo.We told him it was the back of the boat producing the fish not his "Mojo". James proceeded to taunt us by saying"If you belive that, just come on back!" My other brother Steve took him up on it and moved to the stern just aft of James. Instantly Steve started catching fish and James' Mojo vanished

James didn't catch another fish for the rest of the trip.He must have offended the fishing gods with his Great Fisherman comment.

Any ideas what may cause the back of the boat successes?

We were drifting and the wind was pushing the boat sideways to the shore. In the Gulf we are anchored or tied to structure and the stern is furthest from it.

Yep, I know it well. My dad always sat in the back of his old 14' Lonestar, and always caught the most fish. The best spot was straight out the back close to the outboard.

yea, every time i go crappie fishing or if i go deep sea fishing, the back of the boat is the spot to be.

Same way when muskie fishing - back of the boat was always hot! So, being the kind boat captain I've always been, I'd put my rod in the bow rod holder with the lure dangling in the water and just operate the troll motor for my partner and wait for that one fish that would follow his lure in deep (and un-noticed) and spy my harmless bait then take off with it. Worked a couple of times.
