i think its time to upgrade to a pole with good backbone and a DAMN good spin-cast reel. would love the help guys

Spincast reel or Spinning reel???

Get a Heavier rod and a nice spinning reel with heavy braided line and you should be set.. dont need to spend a whole bunch on it, just something a little beefier from what it sounds like.

What kind of hooks are you using?

If you want cat rods, a good set up would be a 7-8 ft. Ugly Stik or Tournament Choice rod with an Abu reel. I would go with the 6600 Abu baitcaster. A good spool of 30 pound hi vise line works good to see bites better. You could also use a 20lb flouro leader if worried about the fish seeing the line. fish

John has a good selection of rods and reels that should fit your needs.

If we're going to recommend websites I'll recommend http://catalog.catfishconnection.com/. They have one of the widest selections I've ever seen. And some products I've never seen anywhere else and some of there stuff is about $10 cheaper than most places.

I just bought a Pro-Angler baitcaster (New $50). Got tired of buying that cheap Made in China stuff. Loaded it with the new Team Catfish braid and put everything on a medium action Ugly Stick.

Now all I need is a 40+ to test it out.
