Has anyone fished this reef yet? Is it worth trying yet, or does it need a couple more years to be a good fish attractor? We're planning to spend 4-5 days in South Padre in the first week or Nov and if the weather is cooperative I'd like to run out to this reef.

it's a big suckuh!.....

last year i went over it to verify the co-ords and didn't mark any fish

i'll be trolling around and over it here soon and'll take another look

i'll be down there thru november so look me up on this board when you get there or before you go if you don't have a laptop....... i'll know what's happening or not by then

i've got a whole summer o'fishing to catch up on that i missed out on this year but i'm gonna get started on it here in september

what size boat are you running?......

My boat is only an 18.5' center console, but the 23nm trip from Port Isabel to the reef shouldn't be a problem provided the weather is ok. I was hoping that some amberjack might have already started calling it home ...

We're going to take the laptop down with us & the motel has internet access ... also will have the digital camera and other goodies, so I expect to post almost every day while down there laugh

Just two of us. If the weather isn't quite so forgiving, then we'll be much closer to the jetties or even just fishing the ship channels, bridges and so forth.

Of course, if the weekly forecast before we go down is calling for a hurricane, we'll just head to Texoma ...

the reason i asked is because i could possibly get another one or two people to go too and make it worthwhile to take out my boat........ i know there's always one person down there sitting 'on go' and he's available on weekdays too

Wow. Hadn't realized the water would be that clear. Looks like it would be worthwhile to investigate on at least one day of fishing.
