I went there yesterday, bank fishing at birch. I caught 10 whites, 7 cats, and 1 drum using ghost minnows. No mosquito bites caught! lol. I would have got some have I had stayed till evening. Most white bass I caught were still female with undeveloped eggs. A very pretty day at the park, saw lots of people picnicing/partying there.

Well when you get back come over and help me catch crappie on conroe and whites on livingston. I am goin wednesday to see about a limit of crappie with jigs and then thursday I will limit out on whites at livingston. Probably next month I will start fishin east bay for trout. I may take the carolina skiff down there so I will not tear up my kenner.

we normally start fishing a 1/2 mile down then we end up working are way down to about a mile we've never gone all the way down there it's really far. we've caught specks, reds, and flounder and of course hard heads. we've never tried to fish specifically for sharks but see people around us who do sucessfully.

Live shrimp if available , dead if not. Speck rigs work well also.

Hey "Greenhorn" Happy b-day!

The jetties are dangerous in so many ways. Try and fish the lee side of the jetty to keep out of the wind/current. This time of year should be the bay side. The channel side can get choppy and wet depending on the wind. You'll probably catch more variety of fish on the channel side but it's not worth re-rigging every other cast if the current+wind is there.
The bay side will offer a better advantage over the channel side if you try fishing from the bottom. (Reel fast when bringing in a fish or checking your bait) Species seasonally vary. You will not catch many sharks just yet. It is a good time there for Specks and sandies but it all depends on how green the water is right now.
There is a place on the left I believe before the lighthouse that takes you across a bridge. (If it hasn't been washed out) We would wade fish there on the gulf side and catch flounder/trout on the sand flats.
Why go to the coast when you can go to Fairfield? lol.
I need to get down there soon to take some birds for a friend to mount who lives in Tx. City.
I may try a couple of hours on Somerville this Friday.

I guess the fish density at somerville is higher than that in galveston...
I went to somerville this past weekend, caught 14 whites (plus 2 undersized/released), 6 cats and 4 drums.
