I am looking for some advice from a tournamnet director on how to set up an aeriated tank for contestant to put there bag of fish in while waiting in the weigh line. What do you use to run the air stones. I have not looked at them closely but don't hear an air compressor running?

go to academy and get the 12v airator system for livewells, think I paid about 40$ works great and has setup for 2 stones, comes complete, and this should be enuff for a tank just start it early.

Thanks Hopalong for the reply, but I was wanting to have about 6 to 8 stones connected to clear flexible tubing that were all connected to a main line of 1/2" to 3/4" PVC pipe. This is not in my livewell. It goes on a 100 Gallon oval stock tank.

our bass club uses 3 of the same size tanks for weigh in and just use commercial minnow pumps for the water circulation, with the air stones from the livewell pump it will put alot of air in the water. I use the system in my livewells and am impressed with the amount of air it puts out.
if recirculating the water with some please release me and the air stones we have never had a problem, in hot weather we add ice as needed and monitor the water temp with a drop in thermometer "airguide model from academy".
for more air output look at wally world for the small 2 tank campbell hausfeld compressor, about 75.00, this runs on 120v but can be regulated down to about 5 psi and that should be enuff to feed 5-6 stones just use the 25 or 50' coil style 1/4" hose and build a manifold out of 1/2" pvc. if you use larger pvc you will drop the air pressure and not be as efficent. I also own one of these and carry it on my truck for emergencys with a 1000 watt inverter, comp draws abuout 2 amps so a 500 would work too, if you dont have a power source handy.
sorry so long winded but hope this gives you some ideas.

The tubing you speak of can be set up with an actual pure oxygen tank. It can be rented out at any welding shop. You can convert down to the settings you speak of. From the main oxygen hose off the tank and gauges, just take hose clamp and secure one of the plastic T's that you can get at walmart in the aquarium section. From there, all you need is the T's for every stone you want to use. Easy to set up. That is how we do our's as well as our "after-weigh" tanks.

Thanks Hopalong and Carl,
I think I will go with Hoppies idea. I think Carl's idea would be better for the fish (pure oxygen) but the liabilty with the tank is not worth the risk. Someone coming through the weigh line smoking a ciggarette would not be good. Very explosive situation. Again, thanks for the help. This is what makes this site so great, awsome people. thumb
