There was a big storm a while back that has knocked some of the older docks in the water. Those provide lots of shade for crappie, and the bite is REAL HOT on MINNOWS from daybreak to about 10:30 or 11:00am. It is only mediocre on jigs when I was there, don't bother til they are in a better feeding mood this fall. Find the shade, find the crappie. You can catch them at other times of day but it is way faster in the morning.
Cruise up near any shade-causing structure with your trolling motor and cast a minnow under a slip cork or something right up into the darkest shadiest part you can find. Don't be afraid to go shallow, I was catching them in four foot of water under a dock a few weeks ago.
