any advice on fishing this lake?

I have not fished it yet and do not know too much about it.

I saw a video on youtube where a guy was using rattle traps to catch 4-8 lbs. large mouth blacks.

I plan to use rattle traps, worms, spinners for bass.

I read on the parks and wildlife website that catfish are biting better, so I may try some liver or shrimp.

also, is it legal to put out a trot line, for catfish? would like to go home with a few fish to eat. but maybe not outta Decker lake? LOL!!

any help is appreciated. thanks.

Rattle trap pattern used to be great in the late winter/early spring. Have not been this year...is the hydrilla still there? A good pattern has always been to go out at night and fish a large soft plastic up in the reeds. Rattlesnake, LFT Ringry, Hags Tornado, big Berkly worm, Sinko...something big and weightless pitched up into the cattails/reeds at night was a great pattern year round. When the power plant is generating this pattern is great in middle of winter. Power plant is only an auxillary plant so the schedule is not as reliable like it used to be. When the sun comes up start throwing traps out in 5-10 foot of water over grass for schooling/cruising bass. If grass is thick try a topwater/frog around grass. Good luck & post your findings! 361V

^ Thank you!

I will definitely post up and report any fish we catch (or dont?).

I will give rattle traps a go, but Im afraid of getting them hung up in all that algae and hydrilla. Frogs are a good idea, I've never used them. I bought these high priced shad looking things, but they look like they would work well. I will rig up a few poles with different things and experiment.

Yes, the hydrilla is still there, they even have signs at the ramp entrance warning about it blooming.

I wasn't sure if you could launch at night? doesn't the ramp close at night?
