Haven't been over to Granger in a while. It looks like it is down about 4 1/2 feet. Can someone give a report on how it is going over there?

Jim, the fishing has been slower than the last couple of years but the crappie are still there. This afternoon, we caught around 100 crappie and ended up with 32 good keepers. Our river pattern should be picking up about now and just get better. The river is very shallow at the treatment plant but your boat should make it up there. Give it a try and send me a report. Good luck.

Today's report is about the same as yesterdays: we caught less total crappie but had 30 keepers that were bigger than yesterdays with 3 or 4 over 14". The client of mine from New York hooked into what looked to me to be a 15+ pound black bass (30 inches long). It stripped drag 3 times and then finally jumped throwing the hook. That would have been bad to have the lake record black bass belonging to someone from New York. We also had a 20 pound blue cat on a jug line baited with Zote Soap. I am now doing the late afternoon weekday guide trips from 5 to dark ($150 for two or three people).

Thanks for the report. I am back in school, so it will probably be Sat. before I can get out, unless I can slip out for an afternoon. I'll try the river and see what I can find. Can you still get out of both Taylor Fox Parks OK?

I'm not sure how bad Taylor is getting (people are still putting in there) but Fox is still good. I noticed that the river is dry at Mankins Crossing. I wonder if it was that bad in the 50's. The one bright spot with this drought is that all the vegetation (willows, reeds, etc.)around the lake is going to make some really good bass fishing and help the fishing all around. I already have clients booking bass trips for the spring if the lake gets back to normal.

Seen Tommy there everytime I have been out. He keeps on a plugging and catching fish. Fishing is getting better each and everyday. Fished Sunday morning for 2 hours and ended with 18 in the livewell. Would have stayed longer but some ID10T in a ski boat decide he wanted to buzz me about 15' away @ 40 mph. So I decided it was time to go to the house. Dang ski boats. Thank the good lord summer is almost over. thumb
FYI! The boat lane out of Taylor is getting very small and narrow. Got that info just a few minutes ago from a buddy of mine.

Yes Sabot, I have pretty well had it to myself every day for the last couple of months. No standing in line at the fish cleaning station. The report is still about the same. I guided a short late afternoon 3 hour trip yesterday and we had 25 good keeper crappie. Not as good as 50 keepers every day like the last 2 years but those were the best years of crappie fishing at Granger Lake in the last 20 years. Still enough to make a mess and keep everyone happy. If the lake fills back up before spring, the fishing should bounce back pretty quick.
