Dont miss this one.Its in the Hill Country on the Llano river.Fredericksburgflyfishers puts this on every year and it is a blast. They provide a shuttle for your kayak, free camping in the park on the Llano, and the best Ribeye steak dinner you ever had on saturday nite along with a raffle. They charge 30.00 per person,and20.00 for the steak dinner.Ive been to a couple of these and I will be there this time.Had to miss the last two years.Get info by going to www.Fredericksburgflyfishers.org There will also be booths set up by Orvis,Wilderness System, and others. The booths were there the last times I went,Wilderness Systems had kayaks to demo it was great.See you there.

Thanks for posting that up, copperhead.

Sounds like a blast. Pricing seems reasonable as well.

Unfortunately, I'm a little too "conventional" for that type of thing. Although, I have been playing around with the 5wt. a little bit, lately...

Hope the water level is good for ya'll.

Just talked with a guide tuesday and he said the Llano is in good shape with water level.

Went to the website, saw this Octoberfisch logo, and LMAO. A beer in one hand, a rod in the other and a fish at heart. That's me! I may have to check it out. I'm not a flyfisherman, but maybe it's time I learned.

Shane,
There are lots of "conventional" folks there.
Nobody even pays attention to how you fish.
It's all just for fun.

This will be our third year. We're in site 2B.

Cool beans.

I'm booked the second day of the event. Otherwise it would probably be doable for me.

Looks like my fishing is making me miss out on fishing, again. hmmm

I understand. That's why I have stayed away from doing business that involves fishing. loco_2

octoberfisch was good this past weekend. Me, my wife, and about 13 other FWFFer's went on the trip. Weather was great, and the fishing was awesome. I really didn't partake in the many activities they offered, but did attend the dinner Saturday night, and that was one fine meal!! ESPECIALLY the deep fried jalapenos!! i did catch big fish of the day, and many guads, yellow bellies, longears, and a few blacks. They were killing a muddler tied by Martin Pursh. It was great to finally meet Martin, and new friend Mark Cole, who owns Tierra Firma lodge, which is a great place to stay on the river!! Also caught up with Dan Cone, great guy, and meet many more wonderful people. It was even better seeing Al out and about.
My wife floated the llano with me from the state park, to flat rock. the trip lasted about 6 hours, and i fished my tail off!!! Sunday i went to Castell's and caught a really nice rio, some more guads, and yellow bellies. It was a great weekend!! i especially like driving on those long single lane hill country highways, listening to good music, and observing beautiful scenery!!! also picked up some original dr. peppers on the way home!!
Here are some pics from the weekend. Enjoy!

Hey, did any of you guys happen to go through the goodie bag we got when you registered at Octoberfisch?? There was some classic stuff in there. Pay close attention to the wordings, and of course, I would take the sick side of it.

First thought is a classic. "The Annual Outdoor Women Gone Wild" information sheet. Are you thinking the same thing?? Girls gone wild?? Not exactly.

Next one is even better. Of the top five places to watch birds, near Junction, the fifth most popular spot is the waste treatment ponds. The waste treatment ponds?? What birds will you see there, and why in the world, would you go there to watch birds!!

Anyway, i thought this was way too funny. Still, it was a great event, just having some fun!! Can't wait till next year.

TTYL, Russell

That sounds good. I might have to fry some up the next time I cook me up some fish... Another thing that you can say with "only in Texas!"
