I'm fairly new to crappie fishing. I picked up Mr. Paty's coordinates and have read a lot. I've bass fished RR quite a bit. I'm heading out with my family tomorrow morning for some crappie fishing. Just curious how they were today.

I'm planning to attend the CAT meeting seminar on 8/4 so I'll hopefully meet some of you. If you're on the lake say hello. I fish a marron and white Skeeter.

I caught 17 keepers today on minnows and chart/white rocky top jigs. Caught a lot of 9-3/4" fish. Fished on corp brush piles 18,15,16A,19,20,and 22 off Paty's RR map. There are a lot of fish on the piles, non-stop action all morning. Started at 7:30 am and finished until 12 noon. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Not one of my best days but I kept 11 Crappie between 10 & 14+ inches. Lots of small Crappie. A couple Cat fish. One nice Bass and a few Sand bass. I was going for the grand slam but I couldn't seem to find any Carp laugh

fished rr yesterday. started on some standing timber in about 25 ft of water, caught a few dinks then moved on. found a brush pile in 23 ft and started catching. caught about 30 with 13 keepers. fish were holding about 18 ft down and most were caught with bobby garland baby shad in the baby bass and key-lime pie colors..once the air temp hit the low 90's, moved under the bridge to fish the pilings...nothing. wind was dead calm and boy was it hot, but all in all a fun day.

We started out with a sure thing on surfacing sand bass. They were just outside RR Marina. I wanted to make sure the 3 kids (4-13) and wife actually caught some fish. Then we hit waypoints 18, 17 (a couple others I forgot) then 24. 24 is 30'ish feet. That's were we actually found the fish. We ended up with 9 keepers between 10 and 14 inches. We actually caught 24. We caught fish on 24 till 2'ish. I used blue/white and chartruese/white jigs but most fish came off minnows. It was fairly windy so we went to some heavier bell weights. We were dropping them to the bottom then cranking up a few turns. Interesting thing was the fish were hitting them on the drop. You'd feel the line suddenly go slack when it shouldn't. You more experienced folks may have seen this before but it was new for me with crappie. The cool part though was that by using the waypoints we'd get in then use the HB SI. Nothing like painting a full picture of the brush pile. I tossed out a buoy then used my x96 and trolling motor to stay on the pile. It was a busy trolling motor day. Wind was a pain. Good Times!!
