because i'm going to be hauling around my boat every now and then, am i going to have to tell my car insurance company, and will they raise our insurance? i have nationwide, i don't know if everyplace is yes or no, or just some, so i thought i'd throw it out there

I have Nationwide for truck and Progressive for boat. I let Nationwied quote for the boat and they did not beat Progressive in my case.

I would suggest insuring your boat on a seperate policy. You can get a policy with agreed value coverage's. If you have a claim there will be no surprises on what kind of coverage's you will have. Thanks Bob Luellen 800-339-1235

What Insurancepro said. Definately two policies with two different insurance companies. You are probably more likely to have boat claim than auto claim, as there are more hazards that you cannot see when in the boat (stumps, logs, etc.) than there are when in the car. When you have a boat claim, you dont want your auto premiums to increase.

im not sure how ur car insurance works, but mine also covers anything that i am towing... for example, a boat.

it should be covered by your auto policy when towing with your vehicle. it is connected and would become "part of" the vehicle. same as if you were pulling a UHAUL trailer....

if you fish a lot, insurance for the boat is a good thing to have. but not mandatory.
