Hey folks.
An important FYI-

Last year the highway patrol towed some vehicles that parked along the highway during the tourneyment. We where approached by Michael Rogge of Lake Fork Sportsmans Association and asked to supply additional parking across the street from The Minnow Bucket Marina during the tourneyment. Parking will be available Friday for registration, Sat and Sunday all day. The charge is $5.00 a day per vehicle this inlcudes launch at our private boat ramp if desired.

In addition. Sopa Taco is offering pre paid orders for breakfast. With orders delivered and available for pick up at the parking area until 8am. Call 903-714-0007

Good luck should be a great turn out.

Jeep,
Since they have to be brought in alive I assume you would hold them in a bucket or something with water. Not to be funny but I remember a guy had one under his arm a couple of years ago. And every time he squezzed it, it croaked like a frog.

After they are weighed they are put in the live release boat.
Those that need to be fizzed are and all that are alive later are released back into the lake.

The last time I worked the boat at the tournment we lost 10 cats out of 110 that were weighed that day. The 10 that died were given away to be eaten.

Bruce

The Lake Fork Sportsmans Assoc want to thank all of those of you who participated in our first annual catfish tournament at Lake Fork.

The two-day Yantis Catfish Classic at Lake Fork concluded today
with the top prize and $6400 being awarded to Tim Morrow (Lindale, TX) for a 16.17 pound blue cat caught on the first day of the tournament.

Fred OBrain (Hobbs, NM) took second place and $3400 with a 14.3 pound flathead, the only one of its species that earned prize money in either day of competition.

The 12.05 pound blue caught by Rhonda Howard (Mesquite, TX) on Saturday took third place for $1400 and
Tommy Redmons (Yantis, TX) 11.25 pound blue took fourth for $900.
Rounding out the top five was Dean Hutchins (Alba,
TX) with a 10.85 pound blue cat worth $550.
The most active hourly winners were Stan Edmond (Cason, TX) who weighed in 2 fish for a total of $700 and Roger Stroman (Emory,
TX) with 3 for a total of $600.

The total payout for all hourly and tournament top finishers was $24,750.

There were 469 paid contestants with about 10% fishing only one day.
We had folks from 14 different states.

Ken Freeman Outdoors and the Big Catfish Quest put on a great tournament with an assist from our members. Every paid member also got a free dinner ticket for Saturday night, a goody bag and an invite to the Yantis Catfish Parade.

All in all it gave the catfishing fraternity a chance to win some cash doing what they like to do best.

The event was presented by the Lake Fork Sportsmans Association and Ken Freeman Outdoor Promotions. Its major underwriters were the Bass Pro Shops (BPS) Big Cat Quest Tournament Trail, BankTexas, the Sulphur Springs Department of Tourism, and the Wood County Industrial Commission. Other major contributors included the City of Emory Tourism Board, the Rains County Chamber of Commerce, and the Rains County Tourism
Board.

For 2010 we will have the credit card/ internet registration up and running and also will have it up for our $5000 cash payout 2nd Annual Crappie event to be held on October 3rd, 2009 at the Minnow Bucket. This is not an hourly event.

And I did get to meet Austinaous in the parking lot.

Thanks much to the TFF for providing this forum to help folks like us connect with folks like you.

Bruce

this tournament was great fun! i was only able to fish on sunday but i heard that the wind was so bad on saturday that i was lucky i wasnt there .i had some of the worst luck of my life sunday ha ha ha .i had 2 fish in the 9-10 pound range on my stringer i was bank fishing by the way .well i was saving them for later in the day and when i was ready ta weigh them in i pulled up my stringer only to find they both had escaped. but the bad luck dosent end there. i changed spots and with an hour left in the tournament i hooked into a big un . he got me wraped up in some logs so being the hard core fisherman that i am i swam out into 13 ft of water with my rod . i got him loose but he was to big for me ta swim back while he was on my line so i opened my bail and swam back .he got wraped up again and broke me off .even though i almost drowned it was the most fun id had while fishing cant wait for next year
